In Topic: Depression / feeling down

Yes. I used to get episodes of severe mental-breakdown like there is no point to life anymore and i suck at everything. I think they're pretty normal and i always thought they were a sign of mental maturity...when the emotions/stress/life we experience become too overwhelming to handle, depression would kick in. Sleep always made it somewhat better if not completely remove the depression kind of like getting used to it.

Then there is another type of depression that you get when NOT doing things and just sitting uselessly like you said. Its kind of related to procrastination. It might not exactly be depression because we are just feeling bad for not doing good things with our time.

The way i deal with it is doing things that i love, letting the depression run its course if its severe and sleeping it off, socializing even if i don't feel like with guys or opposite sex doesn't matter. I think having some great friends who you can talk to whether irl or virtually helps. Youtubing and a lot of other small things that really adds up to making your mood better.

Never play video games, they make it worse. Smoking a joint or taking antidepressants help but these are temporarily solutions, the permanent solution is setting goals in your life, small goals and big goals and working towards them, achieving them gives you a sense of fulfillment.

These are just some of the things i do when i feel depressed and they work sometime other times they don't. I would recommend you a book that really brings about positivity in my thinkings with just reading a few pages of it (i've never got around to finishing it, i am sure i will feel way better on permanent basis if i did), its called The Power Of Now by Ekhart Tole. I could send you a copy if you want, just pm me.

If its really severe though, you might want to check up with a doctor. I know i have been through some episodes that drained the life out of me for months and getting professional help would have saved me a lot of that time and energy but i couldn't afford it. I would recommend this if depression is stopping you from doing positive things with your life and you can afford.

PS: Right now though, i don't think i can give a better advice coming all depressed from my grandfather's death.....the antidepressants is doing its magic though.
